Due Process Media is a video production group working at the forefront of the emerging legal practice called Video Mitigation. We use documentary as advocacy to tell human stories about clients within the criminal justice system.
Based out of Austin, Texas, we believe this work is especially important in a state where a “tough on crime” stance obscures unchecked state power, producing the largest prison population and number of death penalty executions in the U.S.
While a single video can never encapsulate a human life, our videos mitigate the stigma clients with criminal charges often face, achieving more humane outcomes in a system that debilitates and dehumanizes. Showcasing a person through the compassionate lens of family, friends, and experts, we advocate for fair and holistic consideration before the courts.
With experience working on defense teams and formal training within the field of mitigation, we bring an artistic eye to our documentaries, highlighting emotional truth in narratives that weave together interviews and archival materials.
Our videos and photography can be produced for both capital and non-capital cases, and we are able to travel anywhere in the U.S. for production. We are also available to produce mission statement videos and other communications media for organizations centered around criminal justice reform.
